Where are you based?

We have offices located in Sheffield, London and Birmingham, although our lawyers also work for clients based across the UK.

How long have you been in business?

We were originally founded in 2014 as “In-House Solicitors” by our CEO Toby Harper. A year later, we successfully rebranded as Harper James Solicitors – operating out of our head office in Sheffield.

We’ve since opened our offices in Birmingham and London, and have lawyers based nationwide, helping clients across the UK.

Do I need to visit you at one of your offices?

Not at all. We’re more than happy to come to you, or arrange a meeting at a location of your choice. We can also contact you via Skype or on the phone, it’s up to you. To book an initial consultation to discuss your requirements, with no obligation, contact us online and we’ll get back to you.

Can you take over from my current lawyers?

Yes of course, please contact us so we can explain how to go about this. It’s a much simpler process than you might think and we’ll take care of the formalities for you.

What are your business hours?

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5.30pm. However, we’re committed to returning calls within 24 hours or less, so please feel free to contact us outside of these hours.

Can I choose my own lawyer?

We will always try and accommodate any specific requests, but we can’t always guarantee the availability of a particular lawyer.

However, we do promise you’ll only ever have a solicitor that is an expert in the field of law that you require working with you. Our people are at the heart of everything we do and each have many years of valuable experience in helping business owners by providing expert legal advice and representation.

Our Service Plans

Which is the right plan for me?

We currently operate via three service plans:

Enterprise – this package allows you access to our team of expert lawyers for £189 a month, which includes one hour of legal advice each month and heavily discounted rates for any additional support required.

City – this is our standard hourly rate service for one-off instructions. There’s no regular monthly payments and rates are highly competitive when compared with traditional commercial law firms.

On Demand – this is ideal for medium and large businesses with an excess of £10m turnover, looking for ongoing legal support from a dedicated panel of lawyers. We provide significant cost savings for this service and it is fully account managed.

I don’t want to set up a regular monthly payment – can I just pay by the hour?

Yes – our City service plan is designed for any one-off instruction you have, without incurring a regular monthly cost.

Is there a minimum term to the Enterprise plan?

Yes, this is a 12 month rolling contract.

Can I cancel my Enterprise service plan?

Yes, you can cancel at any time if you’re reasonably unhappy with the service that we provide.

How can you afford to provide a city grade of service at these prices?

  • We operate with low overheads, meaning we can pass on significant cost savings to our clients
  • Our cashflow model is efficient, meaning we can collect fees by direct debit
  • The firm has one owner, so we don’t have a large group of equity partners to share our profits with
  • We’re self-funded with one equity partner, meaning the company has no debt
